Description
The House of the Seven Gables (4 Admission Passes)
These 4 admission passes serve as entrance to the Guided Tour experience, which includes a guided tour inside the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion (The House of the Seven Gables), as well as access to the Colonial Revival Gardens and the Nathanial Hawthorne Birthplace.
This American story starts in 1668, when Salem sea captain and merchant John Turner I and his wife Elizabeth built The House of the Seven Gables. Three generations of the Turner family lived in the seaside mansion before it was sold to Captain Samuel Ingersoll in 1782. An active captain during the Great Age of Sail, Ingersoll died at sea. Eventually the property was left to his daughter, Susanna, a cousin of famed author Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hawthorne’s visits to his cousin’s home are credited with inspiring the setting and title of his 1851 novel, “The House of the Seven Gables.”
Not valid in October.
Salem Witch Museum (4 Admission Passes)
4 Admission Passes to the Salem Witch Museum. Since its opening in 1972 in a renovated historic church building, the Salem Witch Museum has served as a distinctive local landmark and major contributor to the city’s cultural and historic landscape. The mission of the Museum is to give a voice to the innocent victims of the witch-hunts that took place from 1692 to the present day. By interpreting this history through audiovisual displays, guided tours, educational resources, and virtual programming, the Museum strives to bring awareness to scapegoating and injustice.
The museum presentation depicts tragic history, including a tableau of the Devil, the pressing of Giles Corey, and the hanging of George Burroughs. These tableaux may not be suitable for all audiences.
