Description

If you have an abundance of fruit you've always wanted to preserve, but just don't have the time or skills to do so, this lot is for you! Fill that pantry with JAM, JELLY OR MARMALADE with your own homegrown produce.

SBS Parent and Chef Sarah Walz offers canning services using your BACKYARD HARVEST! She will can up to 50 half-pint sized jars or 25 pint-sized jars for your pantry shelves (or your holiday giving baskets?!) with delectable jam, marmalade or jelly.

Chef Sarah provides the supplies: Mason jars, sugar and pectin and she will come to your home to pick up the fruit. If you don't have fruit at your home, you could also buy fruit or harvest from neighbor for the preserves (fancy a quick trip to Larry's Produce in Fairfield?).

Sarah will do all the canning in her own commercial kitchen and deliver the finished jam back to you, complete with personalized labels.

DETAILS: This part is so fun! Choose the name of your "farm" and Chef Sarah will make and afix the labels to every jar for you. It's not a problem if you have more than one type of fruit -- Sarah is happy to can them all for you -- up to 50 pint-sized jars. She will guide and help you decide between jam, marmalade, or jelly (or any combination thereof).

Imagine your pantry shelves stock full of rich colorful preserves -- truly sunshine captured in jars! How fully satisfied will you feel opening the cupbard door to rows and rows of sweet nectar? Finally that excess fruit won't go to waste and instead, it will be enjoyed by you, your family and friends. These homemade jars of goodness would make excellent gifts as well. Holiday gifts, CHECK!

PERSONAL NOTE FROM CHEF SARAH:  I was approached by a potential client who has a busy winery business and the fruit from their trees had been neglected for many years. Before they hired me, the fruit would drop and then rot on the ground since they had no time to preserve it. The crew would eventually take it from the orchard straight to the compost pile. It brings me such joy working with this fruit in my kitchen, knowing that none of that beautiful produce goes to waste.  It's the most satisfying feeling to see so many colorful jars once I'm done with the canning process. And I love knowing that all the fruit will be enjoyed by their employees -- virtually none of it goes to waste! I look forward to sharing this joy with you!
