Description
Spend an afternoon on a DOCENT-LED HIKE with NATIVE TREE EXPERT and enjoy a homemade, authentic MEXICAN LUNCH in the majestic woods of Mt. Veeder!
Your group of up to SIX people will be treated to a fantastic afternoon at Pickle Creek Ranch -- forest bathe in the hills above Napa. Learn all about the flora and native trees of the Mt. Veeder appelation on this educational and fun adventure through the trees. Then relax outside in the shade of hundred-year-old walnut trees while feasting on Jorge's famous homemade guacamole (and much, much more yumminess to fill your belly!)
Your docent is the incomprable "Joe Joe" from the Napa Land Trust. Joe Joe is one of those excellent docents who can elevate a hike to the next level. His passion and knowledge for trees and native plants is addictive! He is fun, approachable, personable, and a great conversationalist. Our SBS students loved him when he led their hike at Archer Taylor last year, and you are sure to love him, too!
Jorge and family love to host groups at the rustic ranch in the hills of Mt. Veeder and nothing builds community better than being in nature together, sharing a wholesome meal.
After we have traversed the hillsides and filled our brains with excellent nature factoids, it will be time to rest and relax and...EAT! SBS Parent, Jorge Lara, is happiest when cooking for friends outside and he will be your Mexi-chef for the afternoon, treating you to a memorable Mexican feast of your choosing.
Do you prefer...Carne Asada or Pozole? Pastor tacos or costillas de puerco (a delicious roasted tomatillo and pork rib authentic dish from Jalisco)? You choose! All of which is always paired with his homemade guacamole and Peruano beans.
ABOUT YOUR DOCENT: Joseph “Joe Joe” Clark is the Field Technician at the Napa Land Trust and is passionate about native plants and natural landscapes. As a Field Technician, he supports restoration efforts, land management, and monitoring of native ecosystems.
Born and raised in Vallejo, California, Joe Joe’s passion for the outdoors began at an early age, exploring the Sulphur Spring Mountains and Blue Rock Springs Creek. In his free time, he enjoys knitting lace, gardening with native plants, and appreciating oak trees’ beauty, reflecting his deep connection to nature.
The terrain is steep, but the hike is NOT long (just over 1 mile).
Exact time and date TBD, but Summer 2025 is ideal. Date, time and location details to be shared with and determined following the close of the auction between auction winner and auction donors.
