Workshop Description

Explore Maine with Down East Staff Photographer Dave Waddell. When we think of what makes Maine special, we think of quiet working harbors and scenic lighthouses on rocky peninsulas. The coast from Pemaquid to Port Clyde encapsulates this mystique perfectly. Dave will determine the best locations on the day of the workshop based on the weather and conditions.

Possible locations include Pemaquid Point Light, New Harbor, Marshall Point Light, Port Clyde, Owls Head Lighthouse, Rockland, Rockport, Camden, Lincolnville, and Belfast harbors.

These workshops are designed to maximize learning opportunities and provide guidance on creating the kind of images you want to create. This is not a photo tour. There will be individual instruction based on your goals and your questions. Plan for a full day of photography from early morning through late afternoon. There will also be classroom time where we discuss a range of topics that lead to successful image making. Lessons are limited to 5 people per day.

Instructor Bio

Dave Waddell is a professional photographer with over 14 years of experience photographing a diverse and varied set of subjects and is the staff photographer at Down East and Maine Homes. In 2017, he moved from Philadelphia with his wife and two children and settled into a new home in midcoast Maine, where they have spent the last five years falling head over heels in love with the people and landscape of this incredible state. For Dave, photography is a means for a deeper immersion in the surrounding environment and a way to connect with and learn more about others, their interests and motivations. In addition to photography, Dave loves to spend time with family and friends, play guitar, and spend as much time as possible outdoors hiking, biking, kayaking, and snowboarding.
