The Salem Wax Museum and Salem Witch Village provide year-long entertainment and host the epicenter Halloween in Salem, "The Haunted Neighborhood."

Located on a dead-end street across from the Peabody Essex Museum and adjacent to the Tricentennial Witch Trials Memorial and The Charter Street Old Burying Point - reputed to be the 2nd oldest burial ground in the country.

Each attraction boast gift shops with maritime gifts, confectioneries, books, T-shirts, and Pagan & Wiccan supplies. During Salem's October celebration "Haunted Happenings", the street is transformed into the "Haunted Neighborhood" with six of the cities best and longest running attractions, including haunted houses and walking tours.

To understand the events of the Salem witch trials, it is necessary to examine the times in which these events occurred. There were the ordinary stresses of seventeenth-century life in Massachusetts Bay Colony; a strong belief in the devil, the recent smallpox epidemic, the ever-present threat of attack by Indigenous tribes and their French allies, boundary and border disputes between neighbors. These factors alone created a fertile ground for fear and suspicion. However, these fears were made worse by a growing factional conflict in Salem Village, rising inflation, and the removal of the Massachusetts Bay Charter in 1684. To many it seemed the Puritan ideal of a "City on a Hill" was slipping away, decades of work suddenly pulled from their grasp. Many wondered if Satan's forces had infiltrated their new land...

Visit the Salem Witch Musuem as it examines one of the most enduring and emotional events in American History, the Salem witch trials of 1692. The museum consists of two presentations. The first provides an immersive look into the events of 1692. Visitors experience the drama of that dark time though thirteen life-size stage sets, figures, lighting and narration as they are witness to the web of lies and intrigue of the Salem witch-hunt.
