Authentic Antique “Slapstick” circa 1900, all original condition including padded leather cover. These devices held a powder charge cartridge on the fitting on the back. When someone was “struck” with the padded surface, a loud flash/bang resulted. They were used in theaters during comedy routines, and some fraternal organizations and colleges for initiations. The term “Slapstick Comedy” was coined based on these devices.
