Description

A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers, by Henry David Thoreau. Ticknor and Fields, 1868. "New and Revised Edition." Hardcover, 415 pp. Gilt letters on spine. Borst A 1.2.a. Second edition, first printing. Includes 1000 changes that Thoreau made in his own copy. 1300 copies were printed in November 1867. Please note that this then is NOT one of the remainder copies that Thoreau carried up to his attic bedroom.

In good condition, considering its age and that it is a second edition. Minor damage around outer spine, especially at the top of spine, which appears to have been deliberate cut. Both outer covers have scuffs, and front cover may have light water mark. Front cover is starting to break away from the spine at the bottom. Newspaper filled can be seen through the crack. Pages are tanning and yet are clear and clean. Includes gift inscription on early flyleaf, dated September 23, 1868.

Please note that if the Reserve Price is not met, this book will not sell.
