Description

The Battle of Lexington, and the Revolutionary War, transformed the town of Lexington, Massachusetts. “Protest & Promise: The American Revolution in Lexington,” on view at the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library beginning April 13, 2025, will tell the story of how ordinary people in Lexington made extraordinary choices that helped spark the beginning of the American Revolution on April 19, 1775.

These choices were underscored by actions large and small, including the loss of life and property during the eight-year-long war that followed the battle. The events of April 1775, the American Revolutionary War, and the people of Lexington’s faithful stewardship of that story over two hundred fifty years have helped shape who we became as Americans.
