Description

Don't miss out on the opportunity to give your kiddo's class a memorable science experience with a special visit from Dr. Jeff Rich from Carnegie Science Observatories. Last year, it was a huge hit with the winning class. Ms. Calista said, "It was SO MUCH FUN!!! The kids had a blast and really enjoyed all the activities. Jeff was so engaging and did so many cool activities that kept everyone involved."

Founded in 1904, Carnegie Science Observatories is Pasadena's oldest scientific organization. Nearly every major discovery in modern astronomy is associated with the Observatories, and today Carnegie is a prime destination for cutting-edge research on the evolution of the universe, galaxy and star formation, black holes, and much more.

This special visit will be for ONE class for 1 hour during school hours, limited to grades 4-6, and will focus on activities led by Carnegie's director of education and outreach and astronomer, Dr. Jeff Rich. In addition to his educational efforts, Dr. Rich is an astronomer who researches the processes that shape galaxy evolution and formation, primarily through detailed observational studies of galaxies in the nearby universe.

In addition to the special class visit from Dr. Rich, if the bid reaches $500 or more, Carnegie Science Observatories will not only come to present to your kiddo's class but will also give you the opportunity to bring your family and friends (up to 12 people total) to enjoy a private tour of Carnegie.

The visit will be scheduled before the end of this 2024-2025 school year; however, the exact date and time shall be coordinated with Carnegie Science Observatories and science teacher, Ms. Calista for a date between March 1- June 4, 2025.

Open to Crestview Preparatory School, grades 4-6 only.
