Description
ABOUT THIS WINE
The 2000 vintage of Château Latour was crafted from a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, with the majority of the wine driven by the signature Cabernet Sauvignon, known for its depth and structure. After hand-harvesting, the grapes were meticulously sorted and fermented in stainless-steel vats. The wine then underwent malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, followed by an extensive aging period of 18 months in 100% new French oak. The 2000 vintage was marked by exceptional growing conditions, with a warm summer followed by cool nights that allowed for slow, even ripening of the grapes, resulting in a wine with both concentration and freshness. This vintage is a perfect example of Château Latour’s ability to create wines with extraordinary aging potential, combining power, balance, and finesse.

Winemaker Notes
Impressive deep, dark color. The wine has powerful, balanced structure. The dense structures and the unique qualities of the tannins may be superior to those of the '96 and '90 vintage. The balance of the wine combines class, rigor, complexity and great finesse in the fruit.
Professional Rating — 100
"Latour has made truly great wines in the past two decades—and this is one of the best. It has fabulous aromas of black truffles, currants, raspberry and dried flowers. Mind-blowing on the palate, it’s an emotional and soulful red." (James Suckling)
