About the Artist

Alexander Caserta, artist, photographer and documentarian, has lived most of his life in the small, historic state of Rhode Island and has been active in his work since the mid 1970s. His paintings and photographs were composed in the USA and abroad.

Alex works with light, expressing a direct eloquent realism and a sensitivity to observe and capture “a sense of place” with subjects. The element of historical character is present in the subjects he selects. Alex's attention is focused on the color, light, shadow, shapes, and lines that enhance the image. As a viewer, he is alone and absorbed into the subject.

Alex Caserta's teaching practice extended over thirty-eight years in painting and drawing. This included twenty-nine years teaching custom black and white printing in a darkroom and four years in a computer lab using a digital format in photography.

Mr. Caserta has graciously consigned five works to this auction.

About this Painting

This charmingly narrow walkway is in the small town of Positano on the Amalfi Coast. No cars are permitted on the street which enables one to connect perspective and mood with countless others who have strolled here since long ago. Walkways like this lead up to the main road on the coast via an extremely steep hike. The homes of all the residents of the town are built into the mountains, each enjoying captivating views.
