"The coyote painting is a stencil painting. The project was an introduction to using background, middle ground, and foreground. They made it in several stages.  First the boys laid down a kind of foggy background color.  Then they laid down a layer of dark green leaves to complete the background.  Then they put  the coyote in the middle ground.  It took three layers to make the coyote. Finally they put the lighter green leaves in the foreground.”
