Couper Samuelson is the President of Feature Films at Blumhouse, where he oversees all film production. He has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s micro-budget model, producing major box office hits like M3GAN, The Black Phone, Get Out, The Purge, and Insidious. Under his leadership, Blumhouse has produced some of the most successful horror franchises in history, including The Purge, Insidious, Sinister, and Paranormal Activity, which together have grossed over $1.6 billion at the global box office.


Samuelson joined Blumhouse in 2011, helping launch its first-look deal with Universal and managing a slate of over 60 films. He was instrumental in launching Whiplash—the lowest-budget film to win three Academy Awards—and has expanded Blumhouse’s reach beyond horror to include critically acclaimed films like BlacKkKlansman, The Invisible Man, and The Gift.


He began his career at Mark Cuban’s 2929 Productions, rising from assistant to head of creative development. During his tenure, he worked on Oscar-nominated films like Good Night and Good Luck and Cannes Palme d’Or contenders We Own the Night and Two Lovers. With a track record of championing innovative, commercially successful, and award-winning films, Samuelson continues to push the boundaries of genre filmmaking.
