Description
Step back in time with a fourth grade Pioneer Picnic, an interactive and hands-on experience where students get a taste of life on the trail! During this activity, students will engage in two key experiences that pioneer children might have enjoyed while traveling westward to California.
1. Making Homemade Ice Cream – Using simple ingredients and hand-powered techniques, students will create their own ice cream, just as pioneers might have done when they had access to fresh milk and ice. We'll have some modern-day toppings to add to the fun!
2. Pioneer Pastimes – In addition to enjoying some homemade ice cream, students will explore and create traditional games and activities that pioneer children used to pass the time on their long journey.
By participating in our Pioneer Picnic, fourth graders will gain a hands-on understanding of pioneer life, learning about resourcefulness, patience, and the simple joys of the past. This engaging activity blends history, creativity, and fun, making it a memorable experience for all!
