Description
"Respect" 6"x6"
This is a smaller version of the 8"x8" artwork.
Respect is a tender and thoughtful creation by four-year-old Joanna Yan. Blending the timeless elegance of Chinese calligraphy with the innocence of a child’s illustration, this piece reminds us of the vital role teachers play in shaping young lives. The inscription reads: “Respecting teachers and valuing the principles they teach,” also presented in English and Spanish, underscoring that respect is a universal foundation of learning.
Joanna’s drawing of three joyful figures—children with books in hand—brings the message to life. With vibrant colors and smiling faces, the piece celebrates the special bond between children and their teachers, a relationship rooted in care, guidance, and mutual respect.
Created in honor of Kai Ming’s 50th Anniversary, Respect speaks to the heart of the Head Start mission: fostering not only education but also values that build strong, compassionate communities. Acquiring this artwork is both a celebration of children’s creativity and an affirmation of the respect that makes growth and learning possible.
