Descendientes De Jose Palacios Petalos del Bierzo 2020, Bierzo, Spain
Wine Spectator 91:
Offering a minerally underpinning and overtones of bramble, herbs and spice, this medium-bodied red is fresh and focused, with juicy black raspberry and black cherry fruit, olive and iron flavors. Bright and well-balanced, with light, chalky tannins on the finish. Drink now through 2027.
Charmail 2009, Haut Medoc, France
Wine Advocate 90:
The 2014 Charmail has a ripe, quite opulent (for the vintage) bouquet with raspberry, crushed strawberry and melted tar scents. There is great precision here. The palate is medium-bodied with plush, supple tannin, cloaked in blackberry and raspberry fruit, brown spices and a pleasant chewiness towards the finish. Maybe a little rustic compared to its peers, but I think this will age extremely well. Drink 2018-2028
Marcelo Pelleriti Signature Malbec 2019, Valle de Uco, Argentina
Vinous 91; Wine Adovcate 91+:
The 2019 Signature Malbec was produced with grapes from an old vineyard in La Consulta in the Valle de Uco. The medium to full-bodied wine has a classical profile, and it had a classical vinification and élevage. It was vinified in small tanks with less extraction and with only 80% of the volume aged in used oak barrels. Drink 2021-2025
Gottardi Sudtiroler Blauburgunder Mazzon Riserva 2012, Trento Alto Adige, Italy
Vinous 92:
The 2012 Blauburgunder (Pinot Noir) Mazzon Riserva is deep, rich and powerful. A virile, masculine expression of Pinot comes through in this dark imposing wine. This is a very pretty wine with a bit of heft. Drink
Cavallotto Nebbiolo Langhe 2014, Langhe, Italy
Wine Advocate 90:
The 2014 Langhe Nebbiolo was born in what Alfio Cavallotto tells me was a problematic vintage with severe hail and rain storms. Because this estate farms according to organic and biodynamic methods, it lost up to 65% of its production. In fact, Cavallotto will not produce Barolo in 2014. The best Nebbiolo fruit was directed to this wine instead. Their loss is our gain as this wine offers a very good quality to price ratio. Fruit was harvested very late (the last few days of October) and the wine shows dark cherry ripeness with good structure at the back. The finish is slightly sweet and the wine ages in large oak casks for 18 months.
Hilary Goldschmidt Charming Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Napa, California, USA
Cellar Tracker 92:
Beautiful beautiful nose of rich plum and toasted earth. Palate feels like a mouthful of rich tannins and licorice after the first blast of characteristic napa cab. Comes with a touch of bitterness in the end. Feels like pencil shavings singing an Italian opera to you with big plummy notes.
