Guimaro Camino Real 2019, Ribeiro Sacra
Wine Advocate 94+:
The 2019 Camiño Real is a red to close the gap between the young unoaked wine and the reds from the single vineyards. It was produced with grapes from old vines in Amandi combining orientations, altitudes and soils. It's around 80% Mencía and the rest local grapes intermixed in the old vineyards that are always field blends—Brancellao, Merenzao, Sousón, Caíño… It has a beautiful nose with floral notes, hints of fresh meat and great nuance and complexity. It's medium-bodied with very fine tannins, somewhat ethereal, like a weightless Côte-Rôtie. This has to be the finest vintage for this bottling. Drink 2022-2027
Luis Gurpegui Tempranillo 147th Anniversary 2021, Rioja
Wine Enthusiast 94:
This dark-violet-colored wine has a bouquet of black currant, purple plum and juniper berry. Flavors of ripe cherry, raspberry, eucalyptus, clove, cocoa powder and lavender are wrapped in a shroud of muscular tannins that power into a lengthy finish. Drink 2018-21026
Descendientes De Jose Palacios Petalos del Bierzo 2020, Bierzo
Wine Spectator 91:
Offering a minerally underpinning and overtones of bramble, herbs and spice, this medium-bodied red is fresh and focused, with juicy black raspberry and black cherry fruit, olive and iron flavors. Bright and well-balanced, with light, chalky tannins on the finish. Drink now through 2027.
Numanthia Termes 2015, Toro
Vinous 91:
Bright violet. Smoky, mineral-accented cherry and dark berry aromas are complemented by a building floral nuance. Appealingly sweet black and blue fruit flavors pick up mocha and candied violet notes as the wine opens up. Fleshy and open-knit but lively too, finishing with very good persistence, harmonious tannins and resonating dark berry character. 20% new French oak. Drink now through 2028.
Do Ferreiro Albarino 2021, Rias Baixas
Wine Enthusiast 92:
This wine has a bouquet of mango and clementine. It is bright at first sip, with flavors of pink grapefruit, ripe summer peach and a touch of dried Mediterranean herbs that evaporates in a lemon zest finish.
Zarate Zarate 2010, Val do Salinas
Wine Advocate 93:
The eponymous unoaked Albariño 2020 Zarate comes from 10 plots in Padrende (Meaño) on sandy granite soils that average 35 years of age. The must from a soft pressing fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, where it was kept with lees for 12 months. It has 12.9% alcohol and very good freshness (pH 3.16) and acidity (6.4 grams). It has the fragrant personality of the 2020 whites and the vibrant and focused palate, round, complete and balanced. Drink 2022-2027.
Gismondi on Wine 91:
This is positively alive with a buzzy energy livening lime/lemon pith and peel, pear skin, green apple, over a bed of river stones, all gripped with granite's inherent tension. A beaut, and with time ahead.
