This image was taken during the opening of the Larga Baffin medical residence. The residence is for patients that come down for medical appointments from the Baffin region of Nunavut. It speaks to Inuit Country Food in an urban setting, and it also conveys the message of being humble, (Inuit are very humble). Even if someone is perceived as being born with a silver spoon, we must always remain humble and not get some big feeling.

Cette image a été prise lors de l’ouverture de la résidence médicale Larga Baffin. Cette résidence est réservée à la patientèle provenant de la région de Baffin, au Nunavut, qui vient au Sud pour des rendez-vous médicaux. Cette œuvre évoque la nourriture traditionnelle inuk en milieu urbain et transmet également le message d’humilité (les communautés inuit sont très humbles). Barry Pottle is an Inuk artist originally from Nunatsiavut in Labrador, now living in Ottawa, Ontario. Living in Ottawa, which has the largest urban population of Inuit outside the North, it is through the camera’s lens that Barry showcases the uniqueness of this community and to which he tries to stay connected.
