Jose Palacios is a Peruvian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist whose work spans painting, digital media, and sound. Based in Ottawa since 1987, his visual practice investigates abstraction through gestural and geometric forms, employing gouache, acrylic, and oil to explore the interplay of color, texture, and perception. His digital works further expand these inquiries, merging precision with organic expression. Palacios’ art has been exhibited at Galerie Annexe (Ottawa Art Gallery) and Ottawa City Hall Art Gallery, with works held in the City of Ottawa’s permanent collection. He is a recipient of Canada Council for the Arts funding, supporting his continued experimentation across disciplines.
Jose Palacios est un artiste multidisciplinaire péruvien-canadien dont la pratique comprend la peinture, les médias numériques et le son. Établi à Ottawa depuis 1987, il explore l’abstraction à travers des formes gestuelles et géométriques, utilisant la gouache, l’acrylique et l’huile pour explorer les interactions entre la couleur, la texture et la perception. Ses œuvres numériques explore ce même domaine, alliant précision et expression organique. Les œuvres de Palacios ont été exposées à la Galerie Annexe (Galerie d’art d’Ottawa) et à la Galerie d’art de l’hôtel de ville d’Ottawa, et font partie de la collection permanente de la Ville d’Ottawa. Il est récipiendaire d'une subvention du Conseil des arts du Canada, qui soutient sa démarche interdisciplinaire.
