The Sholem Community is a secular and progressive Jewish educational, cultural, and social institution.

Founded in the 1950s, Sholem serves as a warm and welcoming multi-generational community for unaffiliated, progressive Jews and intercultural families. Our secular (non-religious) Sunday school engages children in an exploration of Jewish identity rooted in Jewish cultural literacy and traditions of social justice. We also offer an alternative bar/bas mitsve program, engaging adult activities, and humanistic observances of Jewish holidays.

Most of our activities revolve around our Sunday school which meets at Short Avenue Elementary School, just up the street from OCS, September through May, between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm.
