Description

In September the Aelpler Gruppe celebrates its 100th Anniversary and our Swiss Hall is 90 years old. This book commemorates the first 100 years. From a 75th Anniversary of California Statehood parade to present day, see the history of the club as it moves along the Aelpler Trail from San Francisco to Newark. Told in pictures and words you'll learn the club's history and then see 85 member biographies. There is an extensive index with hundreds of names for the genealogist in your family. 180 pages Printed by Masthof Press.

The information and photos were gleaned from various sources including minutes from board of directors' meetings (in German and English), program booklets, Swiss journal articles in the "Swiss Park Chit-Chat" column written by Rosemary Ramsell, Aelpler Gruppe Newsletters, and six photo/scrapbook albums collected by Rosemary Ramsell and various other sources. The second section includes the immigrant family stories of club members. Each entry describes the first family member who came to the United States and then tells something of the family history here and their connection to Aelpler Gruppe Swiss Club. Each story was written and/or approved by a family member.
