Artist: Jaynia Matherwiez

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Jaynia Matherwiez spent a large amount of her childhood at the beach. As she got older, she devoted even more time to the coast and has grown to have a deep appreciation and love for the water.

 She took a variety of art classes in college and, while working in educational publishing, found a way to bring creative writing and art into her work. After having her children, she took a break to focus on her family.

 Revisiting art classes in 2021 brought back Jaynia’s passion for art. The blues and greens of her palette are reminiscent of the ocean. She creates abstract paintings using palette knives and brushes, well as some intuitive abstracts and enjoys experimenting with other mediums.
