Dr. Jill Bassett- Cameron has been in higher education for over 22 years and has developed an
interactive, engaged workshop regarding her research on Vicarious Trauma in Higher Education
for those Engaged with Sexual Misconduct (Title IX) Cases (2019). Figley (1995) coined, there is
“a cost of caring” and professionals who hear stories of fear, pain, and suffering may feel similar
fear, pain or suffering--because they care! (Bassett, 2019)
I won this at the silent auction item in 2023 and it was so much bang for my buck. It is relevant to so much of the
work we do and to us as individuals. My institution was able to benefit from the information shared by this skilled
presenter. Colleagues and I still reference the materials and discussion as we navigate forward-
