Acquired by Jeff Smith’s father Ned in 1976, the Hourglass vineyard came into prominence in the 90’s under the initial guidance of legendary viticulturalist Dr. Mark Kliewer. Its rocky Hambright soil encourages small berries of intense concentration and earthy minerality. Nestled between the Mayacamas and Vaca mountain ranges, cooling breezes bottleneck at the vineyard, preserving natural acidity for perfect tensional balance to the fruit's richness.
