This variation on a traditional egg lifter was created by instructor Heather Allen Hietala during her recent workshop at Sanborn Mills Farm, where participants explored wire as both an artistic and practical medium. In the class, students learned to shape wire using their hands, pliers, and cold connections, discovering its immediacy and versatility. Through techniques like coiling, lashing, wrapping, twining, and pattern-making, they experimented with both two- and three-dimensional forms. This egg lifter reflects that spirit of tinkering and creativity—blending utility with artistry while highlighting the expressive possibilities of wire.
