Delegate button from the 1984 convention when Geraldine Ferraro became the first woman to be nominated by a major political party as Vice President.
This button are donated by the late Joannie Parker, ardent activist and the first teacher of Women’s Studies in a high school ( Westlake School for Girls) a delegate from CA for Ferraro.
The 1984 Democratic National Convention was held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California from July 16 to July 19, 1984, to select candidates for the 1984 United States presidential election.
It was a historic event with speeches from Jesse Jackson a candidate for the Democratic Presidential nomination, Former Vice President Walter Mondale who was nominated for president, and Representative Geraldine Ferraro of New York was nominated for vice president.
