Description
This whisk broom is made of broomcorn, is a type of sorghum, a natural fiber. It is 18.5-inches long. A "hawktail pattern" refers to a traditional style of hand-tying the broomcorn in layers, working from the center and building from each side in a symmetrical way. This process gradually builds up a thickness down the center, like a tail bone, with the broomcorn fanning out to the sides, mimicking the appearance of a hawk's tailfeathers.
This whisk broom was made here in Ripton, VT right down the road from the North Branch School. To learn a little about the history of broomcorn, the multiple uses and types of whisk brooms and their care, or view other styles, colors, and sizes, visit: whiskedawayvermont.com
