Description

E. Helene Pierce was an accomplished watercolor artist and resident of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, where she painted from her home overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. She also regularly gathered with fellow artists to paint in Rockport, Massachusetts. Pierce studied with numerous instructors, including coursework at the University of New Hampshire under renowned artist Sigmund Abeles.

Her passion for watercolor grew into a lifelong pursuit of teaching, exhibiting, and selling her work. Pierce exhibited in many prestigious venues, including the Audubon Artists Annual Exhibition (NYC), the Currier Gallery of Art, the Copley Society of Boston, the Academic Artists Association, the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club (NYC), the Knickerbocker Artists (NYC), the Manchester Institute of Arts, the New Hampshire Art Association, and the Reading Art Association.

Following her husband's retirement, Pierce traveled extensively—through Europe, China, Bermuda, Alaska, Australia, and New Zealand—always with a sketchpad, pencils, and camera in hand. These journeys deeply inspired her award-winning studio work.
