About Ken Fellows:
Fellows has had showings at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Café Art Gallery at York Hospital. His works are commonly a part of Kittery Art Association group shows as well.
Fellows began painting watercolors 30 years ago after retiring from a 40-year career in academic medicine. “Painting is the ‘second mountain’ in my life…and about as fulfilling as the first one. How lucky that is,” says Ken.
From rocky coastlines and pocket harbors to piles of weathered rope amid bent lobster traps, Ken is inspired by local and mid-coast scenes. He says, “If there are muses, mine hang out primarily in Portsmouth, Kittery, Monhegan Island, and Stonington, ME.” One of his favorite, recurrent themes is contrasting the disorder and randomness of nature’s beauty with the order and angularity of wharves, houses, and old public buildings.
Donated by Ken Fellows.
