Inspired by the magic of wandering down a tropical path to a breathtaking ocean view, Silver Strand brings that vibrant energy into your home. Through hand-cut stained glass and whimsical vision, the piece showcases striking birds of paradise, lush hibiscus blooms, and a graceful palm tree framing the horizon.

A longtime Southern California resident, Julie Sobolewski has spent countless hours sailing her 35’ Cal sailboat, racing outrigger canoes across the Pacific, and “boogie boarding” in the surf with her nieces. So it was no surprise that when she dove into the world of stained-glass mosaics, she chose to use recycled surfboards as her fine art canvas. She discovered that the vibrant colors and rich textures of stained glass perfectly captured the energy and beauty of the ocean that has always inspired her. Each hand-cut piece of glass is meticulously placed to form golden-haired mythical mermaids, majestic sea turtles, and sweeping tropical seascapes. Her love of palm trees, tropical flowers, and the sea itself shines through in every creation. Julie believes that each surfboard carries the spirit of its time in the ocean — a living history of waves and adventure — and she honors that energy in every work of art. Her work is represented in galleries across Southern California and Hawaii and has been featured in juried exhibitions and fine art shows throughout the Pacific region.
