Represented by Sharon Weiss Gallery, Rick Akers' impressionistic paintings are created with heavy paint applied by a palette knife, resulting in a very bold and spontaneous artwork. His landscapes are done in the plein-air style reminiscent of many early 20th century California painters. The artist has had many successful openings the last few years including several painting that were accepted to the Juried Ohio State Fair. Akers was also the 2002 Art for Life People's Choice Award winner. He holds a BFA in design from the University of Dayton and his works can be found in many prominent collections throughout the country.
