When a rider "unexpectedly" leaves his or her bike, a tethered lanyard system actuates a spring-loaded mechanical trigger located on the device. Once pierced, two pressurized cartridges instantly dispense CO2 into a single polyurethane bladder system. The inflated device creates a torso-securing, tight cushion of air around the rider's chest and back, adding protection to the rider's chest, rib cage, spine and internal organs. The device is reusable, comfortable, unobtrusive, and affordable. This "wearable air bag" is incorporated into stylish jackets and vests.
