Robinvale Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2002
Gorgeous rich purple and magenta hues color this organic wine made with 39% Shiraz, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot. Bold extracts of ripe plums and mild french oak give this wine a vanilla-like sweetness reminiscent of blueberry pie a la mode. Soft and round, a terrific example of a great New World style wine. Robinvale winery is a two generation wine enterprise. Mr and Mrs. George Caracatsanoudis established Robinvale Organic Wines in 1976. Today, sons Steve, Bill and their families, produce quality biodynamic wines northwest of Melbourne on the Murray River. The family operates a modern winery that resembles a Greek Temple made from ancient Mt. Gambian limestone, which helps to maintain a cool-temperate cellar. It is, along with the wine, a local tourist attraction.
