Description

Albet I Noya Lignum Blanc 2001

The 2001 Lignum Blanc is 50% Chardonnay and 50% Sauvignon Blanc. This bright organic wine has a rich blend of tropical fruit flavors complimented by a toastiness from a brief aging in French oak. The finish is lengthy and zesty thanks to the Sauvignon Blanc. Vegan

Winner of:
Bronze Medal - 2003, International Wine Challenge

Eco-Pioneers Josep Maria and Toni Albet I Noya descend from four generations of wine growers.

In 1978 they became the first winemakers in Spain to adopt organic practices. They use traditional methods of wine formation on the 13th century estate in the Penedes Region, such as Goblet pruning, while for trained vines, the Expaler or Royat System is used. The grapes are always hand harvested, then taken in small panniers to a narrow, shallow trailer ensuring that the fruit arrives safely to the cellar with no danger of crushing.

These traditional methods maintain the balance of the vines and produce healthy grapes with no alteration the aromatic components o the fruit, taste or texture.
