Description

Holmes Pinot Noir 2003

This Nelson region Pinot Noir wine produces cherry, plum and raspberry aromas with slight savory and sparingly oak characters on the nose. Clear, definite cherry and raspberry flavors on the palate with good fruit ripeness. A soft, easy drinking wine showing good weight and length.

New Zealand's Marlborough region (on the South Island) is one of the world's finest cool-climate wine producing areas - perfect for elegant white wines.

While the Kiwis are gaining respect worldwide for their sauvignon Blancs, they've also caused some whiplash and a bit of respect among wine aficionados for their promotion of screw caps instead of corks for topping off the bottle. With an estimated 10 percent of all wine becoming "corked" or tainted from corks and improper sealing., why wouldn't we support a new way to seal in wine flavor and have 10 percent more wine to actually drink?

It seems a shame to spend a decade bringing the vines to maturity, lavishing intense love and affection on them, not to mention huge amounts of hand-on viticulture...only to use a bottle seal we know to be less than perfect," explains David Holmes of Holmes Winery.
