This necklace was made and painted by artisans in a small workshop in Colombia from the tagua nut, an earth-friendly product of palms from the rainforest in Colombia.


This renewable crop is also known as "vegetable ivory" due to its similarity in appearance and carvability. Tagua products are experiencing a comeback in an effort to protect endangered species that have been the traditional source of animal ivory.
