Lance Reed is the CIO for Community Blood Centers of South Florida . He has extensive knowledge on strategic technical thinking in my background. Most of his career has been in the Boston and NYC area. Working for Cambridge Technology Partners and Razorfish up in the Northeast. Strategic and Technical consulting for the following companies: Estee Lauder, Pfizer, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Boeing, Dell, Daimler Chrysler, Ryder, Terra Lycos, Hilton, PBS, Ford, Hasbro, Mercedes Benz Credit Corporation, Fidelity, Deutsche Bank, Coors Brewing Company, Jeppesen, A&E, Miami City Ballet, Elan Pharmaceuticals and PictureTel.

Lance Reed is very interested in getting more involved in the South Florida CIO community. He has been with the Blood Center for two years now. CBCSF has a very large geographic area that covers from Key West to West Palm Beach . With 25 locations four of them being full manufacturing and distribution centers and around 650 employees. CBCSF is in the top five of Blood Banks from a volume perspective in the country.

Lance Reed is in the process of bringing a new manufacturing and distribution center online. Implementing 4 custom built applications, company wide intranet, extranets with the ARC, a new S8100 Avaya Switch that integrates all 4 main locations as well as a call center, Kronos Time and Attendance and a new managed VPN. These are just a few of the accomplishments that the CBCSF team has had success with at the Blood Center during his tenure.

Lance standardized application development on the J2EE environment using key open source components of the architecture. CBCSF is an Oracle shop at the database layer. Mr. Reed is working closely with the FDA on creating a customized 510k application for the whole value chain of blood banking: blood recruitment, registration, manufacturing and distribution. There is thought around making this application into an ASP in the future.
