Description

Throughout the long history of baseball, few exciting moments can compare to what happened on October 3, 1951 at the old Polo Grounds in New York City. The Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants finished the season in a tie for first place for the National League Pennant. It was the first play-off in the history of the National League. The teams had split the first two games. Then, at the final game, the Giants had entered the bottom of the 9th, down 4-1. Before Bobby Thomson came to bat with one out, the Giants had scored a run to make it 4-2 and had runners at second and third. After taking the first pitch for a strike, Thomson connected with the fast ball pitched by Ralph Branca and smashed a home run, giving the Giants a 5-4 victory over their biggest rival and a trip to the world Series. Attention: Giants and Dodgers Fans and all collectors. Don't miss out on this one!"
