This colorful piece of work was created by Alicia Mediavilla, a lifelong resident of the ancient Spanish city of Segovia. Alicia resides in a small "pueblo" outside of the city, where she spends her days creating lovely fabric artwork in her cozy studio. The technique that she uses is a little known, antiquated method of hand painting silk by creating resin "dams" to hold the colors in place. Once the colors have set, the silk is washed to remove the resin. The resulting design is used to create scarfs, wall hangings, handbags and many other items.
