After establishing the Dodgers' franchise record with 49 homers in 2001, Shawn posted his second straight 40-HR season in 2002. On May 23rd, he tied a major-league record by hitting four home runs in a single game. Shawn was 6-for-6 that day, with a double, six runs scored and seven RBI. That game was part of an outstanding week, in which he hit .563 with 15 runs scored, 10 HR, 18 RBI and 52 total bases in just 32 at-bats. For the season, Shawn finished third in the National League in HR (42) and fourth in both runs (110) and RBI (114). A five-tool player, Shawn is a two-time All-Star and a Gold Glove award winner. He's also extremely durable, having played 150 or more games the last five seasons. A first-round draft pick of the Blue Jays in 1991, Shawn made his major-league debut in 1993. He was an International League All-Star in 1994 and made the majors for good in 1995. The Dodgers acquired Shawn prior to the 2000 season in a trade for Raul Mondesi. In his three years in L.A., Shawn has hit 115 homers and driven in 338 runs.
