Ms. Marin was born in Mexico City and is the first foreign-born U.S. Treasurer to hold this office. She is also the highest-ranking Latina to serve in President George W. Bush's Administration. Ms. Marin is a graduate of California State University in Los Angeles and also a graduate of Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government Programs for Senior Executives in State and Local Government. On June 15, 2002, she was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from her alma mater Cal State University, Los Angeles.
