Love Canal is one of the most notorious environmental scandals in the world.



As children playing outside began coming home with burned hands and feet, and alarming numbers of neighbors contracted mysterious diseases, residents of Love Canal discovered that their town was built next to 20,000 tons of leaking chemical waste.



Residents of Love Canal organized their blue-collar town and won a colossal 2-year battle against a multi-billion dollar corporation and the local, state and federal governments.
