Special Instructions

Sylvie Braitman is a crossover performer. She crossed over the Atlantic Ocean and the North American continent, leaving Paris for San Francisco 15 years ago.
She constantly crosses over in musical styles. A classically trained mezzo-soprano, she performs Baroque music, 20th century music and some in between.
She has become famous in the San Francisco Bay Area for her alluring performances of French popular music from the 1920s to the 1960s.
She crosses over time as she sings the Yiddish songs of her Jewish Polish ancestors, telling the stories of her family and its struggle with the Holocaust.
She does not fit into categories and enjoys exploring various musical styles from various countries and times. Quality, inspiration and emotion are at the core of her work.
