Description
This two-day in-school program consists of the following three parts:
- Staff In-service. This inservice introduces staff to bullying concepts and issues. It identifies forms of bullying behavior, kinds of bullies,issues with the bully, target and witness. It helps to identify strategies for dealing with the bully and the target, as well as developing strategies for implementing a bully prevention program in the school. All sessions discuss resources available to staff members.
- Student Empowerment Session. This is a one hour interactive session with students in elementary grades 1-6. Students are involved in identifying kinds of bullying behavior, reasons for bullying, strategies for dealing with bullying, the role of the witness and the importance of the apology.
- Training for facilitatorsTraining for facilitators to deliver the staff in-service and student empowerment sessions. Training also includes development of an action plan for preventing bullying in the school.
