Miles Hermann studied art at the San Francisco Art Institute and during his time spent at Humboldt State.
His influences include icons Van Gogh, Picasso and the Impressionists as well as the West Coast aesthetic of the Arts and Crafts Movement, the Society of Six, and Bay Area painters of the 50's and 60's.Miles' art reflects his life experiences in Hawaii and California, with a nod to the tradition and culture of modern painting.

Since 1986, Miles has exhibited work throughout the state, including solo and group exhibits at the Art Foundry/Sacramento, Gumps Gallery/SF, and Plaza Design /Arcata.
