Item Number: 117
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
City Arts & Lectures will present an evening with
U.S. Senator
Barbara Boxer
Barbara Boxer is currently serving her third term in the United States Senate. She previously served in the House of Representatives for ten years and as Supervisor for Marin County. Since 1993, Boxer has been an advocate of families, children, education, the environment, and her State of California. Among her many achievements in the Senate, Boxer authored the law authorizing federal funding for after school programs, wrote a Patients' Bill of Rights in 1997, championed preservation of the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge, and has passionately defended a woman's right to choose. In 2004, she received more than 6.9 million votes, the highest total for any candidate in the nation except the two Presidential candidates. A Time to Run is her first book. The novel looks at the personal friendships and betrayals, the romance and realities of a life dedicated to politics. An insider's look at how politics and power are shaped by the people behind the scenes, A Time to Run is a unique fiction debut by one of America's most respected Senators.
