Bryna Levy's Waiting for Rain: Meditations for the High Holidays and Sukkot, a collection of eloquent meditations based on biblical and rabbinic texts, began as a series of Hoshanah Rabbah lectures delivered annually at Matan--The Women's Institute for Torah Studies in Jerusalem. Focused on themes especially appropriate for the fall Jewish holidays, these meditations are intended to inspire us and to imbue our lives with renewed spiritual meaning. In her insightful interpretation of biblical texts, Levy intensively and painstakingly explores theological, moral, literary, and spiritual issues central to the High Holiday liturgy: repentance, acceptance, and looking inward.
