Dr. Ochs practices being Jewish in ways her religious grandparents would still recognize and in ways that would upset, confuse, or even elude them today. Wearing a tallit, setting the Passover table with Miriam's cup and tambourines, reading names at a Holocaust memorial, passing out Shabbat angel cards on Friday night, these and other Jewish practices are among the new Jewish rituals and the ways that we experience newness of such traditions that are unfamiliar to us. Making Jewish Ritual looks at the changing sensibilities along with Jewish practice, which expand the ground of the sacred to include new spiritual opportunities
