Volume 4 consists of folktales gathered from Afghanistan, Iran, and Central Asia, translated from the Judeo-Persian language.
The six-volume Folktales of the Jews, edited by Dan Ben-Amos and Dov Noy, represents a monumental achievement in Jewish culture and folklore. Compiled from the Israel Folktale Archive in Haifa (founded by Noy) and complete with a glossary as well as critical notes on each tale, these 355 timeless stories (71 per volume) are accompanied by artwork and five black-and-white maps.
Special Instructions
The tentative publication date for this volume is November 2007. There is a matching grant by the NEH, National Endowment for Humanities, for this project.
