Description
CHÂTEAU MONTROSE St.-Estèphe 1989. This is a phenomenal wine and the Wine Spectator continue to believe that it is superior to the 1990. The 1989 is a cleaner, more classically styled Montrose. It shows fabulous aromas of roasted fruit, blackberry, tobacco, chocolate and toasted oak. It's velvety and very, very fresh, powerful and fabulously structured. It's full-bodied with silky tannins and a long, long finish, with the potential to improve for decades to come. Wine Spectator's score of 97.
CHÂTEAU MONTROSE, in southwestern France, was founded early in the 19th century. Montrose has belonged to the Charmolue family for nearly 100 years. The beautiful, unified block of vineyard has produced one of the Bordeaux's most consistent and respected wines for 150 years. Considered one of the top Saint Estèphe, Montrose is prized for its classic Claret style, big fruit and full well structured taste.
